Eskilstuna Guif, Sweden Eskilstuna Guif is today a handball club with a men’s team playing in the Elitserinen(the highest level in Sweden), a women’s team playing in the Allsvenskan and the club has one of the best youth organization in Sweden for both boys and girls.
Eskilstuna Guif was formally constituted 1896 and is as a club one of the clubs with the longest tradition in the Swedish handball. Eskilstuna, which is the home of Eskilstuna Guif, is a small industrial town with 95 000 inhabitants, 100 km west of the capital of Stockholm. Eskilstuna Guif has been the most successful club in Eskilstuna for many years and its activities are followed on daily bases by the inhabitants as well as the press. The club has had a men’s team in the highest league for several years. The squad have many local lads, that have come through the youth organization which is one of the finest in Sweden. The women’s team have a history of being among the best in Sweden in the period between 1950 to 1990. During the late 90-ties the team had a rough time but now with a lot of young promising girls in the club the situation is much better.
